What insurances are accepted at University Skin Institute?

Our practice accepts a number of popular insurance plans. These insurers only cover medical procedures, and do not cover elective or cosmetic procedures. We do our best to check your insurance eligibility and verify your benefits prior to your appointment, but we can’t guarantee that the information you receive will be accurate. You are responsible for the understanding of your insurance benefits and your insurance company will determine your responsibility after processing your claim. Please feel free to contact us at info@sacramentoskinclinic.com with any questions, but if you need specific information about your plan and benefits, we recommend that you contact the phone number on the back of your insurance card. The following list is the insurance carriers we are participating with:

What is a copay?

A co-pay is a fixed out-of-pocket amount paid by an insured for covered services. It is a standard part of many health insurance plans. Your co-pay may vary based on the type of visit (office vs. hospital visit).

What is a deductible?

A health insurance deductible is the amount of money you pay out of pocket for healthcare services covered under your insurance plan before your plan begins to pay benefits for eligible expenses. With a $2,000 deductible, for example, you pay the first $2,000 of covered services yourself. After you pay your deductible, you usually pay only a copayment or coinsurance for covered services.

Why do you need my credit card info?

We keep a credit card on file to make your experience faultless. Oftentimes, there is a small balance remaining after a visit which is not completely covered by the insurance provider. This system is similar to hotels, rental car companies etc. where a charge card is kept on-file for patient payment responsibilities not known at the time of the office visit.

Do you store credit cards securely?

Credit card information is stored in our PCI-compliant payment gateway, which employs the most rigorous level of certifications in the payments industry. Once entered, our staff cannot access your credit card number – only the last four digits are visible. You may change the card on file at any time.

What is your cancellation policy?

We do have a 24-hour cancellation and reschedule policy. Appointments that are canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours advance notice will be charged the following fee, respectively:

  • Medical Appointments: $50.00
  • Cosmetic Appointments: $100.00
Are cosmetic procedures covered by insurance?

Procedures that are considered cosmetic are not covered by insurance. Payment is required for all services at the time they are rendered. We accept payment in the form of cash, check, or credit card. We do accept CareCredit for cosmetic services.

What should I bring with me during my visit?

All patients must bring a valid photo ID, and an insurance card even if you are an existing patient. To reduce your wait time, please fill up the new patient paperwork below prior to your visit as it helps keep both you and our team on time.
